When I was a kid, my mom would take me to the Waldenbooks at the mall. My parents were teachers and, honestly, pretty uninterested in schlepping me around to activities. My mom preferred reading. Quiet. Solo. Can be done for hours. And I loved going to the bookstore. What could be more exciting than buying five Sweet Valley High’s at once?! (Obviously nothing.) (Then or now.)
These days my TBR pile is huge, because in my heart, books = love. I’m on track to read forty books in 2023 and there’s absolutely no theme to the reading other than, at some moment I went to the stack and one of the books said, this is what you need in your life right now. So, maybe one of these is what you need? Let it call to you!
